Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients and prep by chopping onions, slicing mushrooms, and quartering potatoes.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Shape into oval patties.

Cooking the Patties

  • Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

Making the Gravy

  • In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil, then sauté the sliced mushrooms and onions until softened.
  • Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Add the patties back to the skillet, cover, and cook for 10-15 minutes. Optionally stir in cornstarch mixed with water to thicken.

Cooking the Potatoes

  • In a pot of salted water, boil the quartered potatoes until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and return to the pot.
  • Mash the potatoes with milk and butter, seasoning with salt to taste.

Serving

  • Serve the patties over garlic mashed potatoes, drizzle with gravy, and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat gently in a skillet. You can also freeze the patties ahead of time.
