Ingredients

For the Filling

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded Any leftover rotisserie chicken works brilliantly.
  • 1 cup bread crumbs Store-bought or homemade from leftover bread.
  • 1/2 cup cheese, shredded Mild cheddar or your favorite cheese.
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce Adjust based on your heat tolerance.
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder For savory flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder For added flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp paprika Adds sweetness and color.
  • to taste salt and pepper Seasoning is essential!

For the Buns

  • 1 package hamburger buns Whole grain or regular.
  • Oil for frying Any high smoke point oil will work.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, bread crumbs, shredded cheese, hot sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix everything thoroughly, preferably with your hands for a satisfying blend.

Stuffing the Buns

  • Carefully split the hamburger buns open without tearing them apart. Generously stuff each bun with the chicken mixture using a spoon.

Frying the Buns

  • Heat a generous amount of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the stuffed buns in the skillet and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Serving

  • Transfer the fried buns to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Allow oil to heat properly for the best crunch. Use parchment paper to prepare the mixture ahead if needed.
