  • 1 cup milk Full-fat milk is ideal for richness.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together room temperature butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Incorporate eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Alternately mix the dry ingredients with the milk into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish and smooth the top.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cooling and Serving

  • Allow to cool in the baking dish for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
