  • 1/4 cup sugar Adjust according to your sweetness preference.
  • 1 large egg Beaten, for egg wash to create a golden color.
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds For topping, ensure they are fresh.
  • to taste powdered sugar for dusting Adds a finishing touch.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface.
  • Cut the pastry into rectangles, approximately 3 by 4 inches.
  • Mix almond paste with sugar until smooth in a medium bowl.
  • Place a spoonful of the almond mixture in the center of each rectangle.
  • Fold the pastry over to create a pocket and seal the edges.
  • Brush the top with the beaten egg.
  • Sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Don’t skip the egg wash for the golden crust. Chill the pastry before rolling for best results. Experiment with flavors like cinnamon or vanilla!
